Together we have an opportunity to make medical history!

What is fare?

The Foundation for Athletic Research and Education (FARE) is a 501-c-3 federally tax exempt, nonprofit foundation,
cofounded by Dr. LeRoy Perry and Wilt Chamberlain in the late 1970s.

The purpose of FARE is to conduct research on structural biomechanics, nutrition, and the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the body (mindfulness) to enhance human potential. We are applying what we have learned in sports science -- and specifically hydrotherapy -- to help people with bad backs get out of agonizing pain and improve the quality of their lives.

About the Research

This simple yet brilliant idea can save our international society trillions of dollars in unnecessary health care costs!
"It can save patients with agonizing back pain from undergoing high risk surgeries"

FARE’s research can change how the medical profession thinks about using drugs and surgery to help people with bad backs. It can save patients with agonizing back pain from undergoing high risk surgeries. Dr. Perry’s passion has been the creation of a spinal decompression technique in the pool called Hydrokinteic Spinal Decompression Therapy. This simple yet brilliant idea can save our international society trillions of dollars in unnecessary health care costs. It uses a flotation belt he designed around the upper body, waist straps are used around the waist to attach a PerryBand in front and rear with mid body weight suspended by an elastic band between the legs, ankle weights are also often used. Over these last thirty years he has successful decompressed over 20,000 patients with great success. LeRoy Perry, D.C., C. Ped., AWC

LeRoy Perry, D.C., C.Ped., has been called a Renaissance man, a modern-day Hippocrates, and a Leonardo da Vinci of our time. And you’ll see why, from his truly impressive array of talents and accomplishments that identify him as an inventive thinker and doer.

When asked about what motivates him to be so self help orientated he said, “I have been handicapped twice in my life. Both my knees are titanium and I have fractured my spine in two places. I am compelled to find an answer to the effects of gravity and compression on the spine. I have found the answer, “the solution to the back problem” and now I am ready to prove it scientifically.
See IRB Certificate of Approval (this approval is necessary to do human research) and IRB synopsis with budget. I am therefore looking to raise the necessary funds to do so.
We will accomplish this goal in three phases:

  1. Phase one: $542,215, a study with 30 people for six months
  2. Phase two: $3,045,395, a study with 100 people for two years
  3. Phase three: We need money to cover operating overhead
and expenses $240,000 for two years. This makes the total needed $3,827,610. As far as we know, these will be the most comprehensive non-surgical, non-drug research projects ever performed in medicine related to spinal decompression. When we succeed, we will publish our findings in all the most prestigious medical journals. We will be making medical history! It will change how medicine thinks about using drugs and performing spine surgery as a great percentage of surgeries and drugs will no longer be necessary. I invite everyone to join us on this journey of Enlightenment, every dollar helps. Thank you!”
